The wayfarer leaves the city behind to set off into the uncertainty of the wintry landscape. Sometimes leisurely, sometimes quickly, his path takes him through forests and fields, alongside a brook. He pauses, rests, looks back at his beloved, and feels threatened by death.

In this new version of the “Winterreise” Franz Schubert is revealed as a contemporary, as Clara Frühstück and Oliver Welter relentlessly expose the close kinship between the Romantic lied and the modern pop song.
